5QF: Thinking back…

Only a few hours left in this workday… and then it’s the weekend!!! Three days off!!! YAY!!!

I was going to vlog this week… but the questions were super hard (at least for me and my overly tired mind last night and today) so I’m taking my time and writing it out. Not that it makes the questions any easier. I just don’t have to cut and splice together the video so that y’all aren’t watching me ramble on for 15 minutes trying to figure out what to say. :)

So, hopefully I’ll be back with a vlog next week… I have to admit, it was kinda fun. And I didn’t realize that I had such a strong mid-western accent until I was told by a few friends out there. LOL

Now it’s time for another 5 Question Friday with Mama M….

Here are the questions for this week…

1. What is one thing you miss the most about childhood?
So many things come to mind.

Not having responsibilities. Like money responsibilities. And work responsibilities.

Yeah. Can I go back to that?

2. Are you still friends with your friends from high school?
While I have reconnected with a LOT of people on Facebook (haven’t we all???), I can still honestly say that I am not friends – or even see/talk to/e-mail/communicate on an occational basis – with anyone that I was friends with in high school. Really sad… because I would love to reconnect with some of my friends from my senior year. However, I don’t think any of them know how to “relate” to me as I am not really the same person as I was back then (I think I’m MUCH better now.)

3. Is there a catch phrase, cliche, or word that just drives you bonkers every time you hear it?
I know there is… I’m just too tired to think of what it is. If I do think of it, I’ll come back and update – and put that part of the answer in red.

Although, I’m sure that there are a few words or phrases that bug everyone around me because I over use them.

Like.

Seriously.

Ya know?

Yeah.

4. What is one thing that you think symbolizes America…besides “Old Glory”?
When I think of America… many monuments and documents come to mind as  symbols as well as “Old Glory”. Places like the statue of Liberty, Liberty Bell, White House (as well as a slew of other building in Washington DC) and Mount Rushmore. Documents like the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution.

5. What are your 4th of July weekend plans?
Ok, so I am afraid of actually typing this out because I will actually hold myself to this list… and then will feel really, really, really guilty when I don’t complete it. Seriously I will.

But I’ll list all of it out anyway… I’m just warning you about the guilt now. :)

  • Work on wedding programs for my brothers wedding (and hopefully get a LONG way on them!)
  • Redo my Google Reader. Right now it’s just sad, lonely and fills up quickly… which keeps me scared away from enjoying it.
  • Write a couple of blog posts.
  • Do my puzzle – or at least get a big chunk done.
  • Color 2 pictures in my coloring book.
  • Cook something new.
  • Finish the book  I’ve started.
  • Put together my journal for the “Creativity Exchange” I’m participating in.

Oh yeah. And go to lunch at my parents house on Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day. Yeah. Cuz that’s how we roll in these parts.

So what do you think? How about you… do you have spectactular weekend plans????

5QF: Musical edition…

Hoooorrraaayyy! I did a video blog for you today!! :)

It’s 5 Question Friday with Mama M.

I have to say, last week I wrote that I would do a vlog this week… and I almost ALMOST chickened out. So let me know what you think… and if I should stop doing these, PLEASE tell me. I kinda feel like a dork. Haha!!

Here are this week’s questions…

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument?

2. What is your pet peeve while driving?

3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services?

4. Is there a song that you hear that will take you back to the moment, like a junior high or high school dance?

5. What song best represents your life right now?

5 Question Friday: Where I would retire…

Happy Friday! I was going to video blog this week, but as I was thinking about the questions last night I was falling asleep… so hopefully next week you’ll get to see my shiny happy face. :)

In case you missed it, over the last couple days I’ve shared about how I was chosen as well as all the prep work that went into my Rachael Ray Show appearance last year. It’s a little long… but you can read about it here and here and here. And you can watch the show via the link on this post. (Just wait a second for it to load…)

As you read earlier this week, last weekend was super productive for me. I’m hoping that this weekend will be much the same way. Except instead of concentrating on cleaning rooms (I will be doing it a little), I’ll be working on cleaning up things on my computer that have gotten out of control. I probably won’t be able to blog about it much though. LOL

And now it’s time for…
Five Question Friday with Mama M.!!

1. What is your favorite thing about summertime?
Being able to walk or run outside. And actually (after my walk last night with my aunt) I now can’t wait for the weekend – provided it’s not going to rain on me – and get out for a good 4-5 mile walk. I use this time to clear my head and get everything “in order” in my life. So good for me.

2. What is your ideal retirement location (if money didn’t matter)?
I think my dream retirement location would be in North/South Carolina or Georgia… near the ocean. I’ve really never spent any time there, but it does sound lovely. :)

3. Do you live in the same town you grew up in?
Yes, I now live about 5 miles away from the house I grew up in. My parents actually still live in that house. It is definitely filled with lots and lots of memories.

4. What nervous habit did you have as a child that you kicked to the curb before becoming an adult?
I don’t know that I’ve completely given up my nervous habit. I still bite my fingernails (when they aren’t manicured) when I get stressed or nervous about how things are going. That’s why I’m so addicted to manicures. It’s really a habit breaker for me.

5. What is the most embarrassing thing that happened to you while on the job?
Ummm… what if I don’t want to admit it.

Seriously.

Ok…

For a few weeks (or occasionally over months?) as I was losing the bulk of the weight and really working out, I would fart at work because of the amount of fiber I was eating. It wasn’t just the noise of the farts that was embarrasing though. It’s the fact that they smelled TERRIBLE.

*If you confront me about this, I will likely deny it.*

Although if I were a guy, I’d probably be totally proud of this fact.

So what do you think? What would your answers be? I’d love to know!
Have a great weekend too! :)

5 Question Friday: Pranked edition…

Well… It’s friday again. And it’s been quite an up/down week for me. Oy! First being the SITS featured blogger on Monday and then a work roadtrip (not fun!) leading up to me sleeping through my alarm this morning to get to my workout. So yeah, I missed my workout. :( Not cool.

Thanks again to all that have stopped by — I’m working REALLY hard to get to your blogs to read and thank each and everyone of you personally. I just hope that I can get this done by the end of next week. Either way – with the Saturday Seven’s feature tomorrow (and probably for the weeks to come) – I will have no limit on content to feature. :)

Now on to the Five Question Friday with Mama M!!!

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship?
A good friend is someone who is there when you are hurting. Someone who listens. Someone who wants to be in your life. Someone who calls you. Someone that you can share everything in life with without regret. Someone that knows your deepest darkest secret and doesn’t judge you for it. Someone that makes you smile. Someone that knows your favorite joke. Someone that knows when you need a helping hand.

2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted?

I don’t necessarily remember EXACTLY what it was… but I know it was food related. I was doing it quite often recently by going out to eat (when I shouldn’t) and then feeling WAY overstuffed and gross. Definitely regretting that “purchase”. I’m working on cutting back to only going to fast food once per week (no more!) until after summer… and hopefully by the time September rolls around, i can take on eating at home for a month. No out to eat dinners at all! (And that would be one thing down on the 101 in 1001 list that has yet to be started.)

3. Have you ever had a prank played on you?
Yes, so many pranks. but that’s what happens when you are a sister of two younger brothers. :)

However, the most hurtful prank was not played out by my brothers… it was by people I considered to be friends from my high school youth group during my freshman year. I desperately wanted to be “liked” by them… by guys… by anyone. And you know how girls are when they find out your vulnerabilities, they feed off from them.

Without going into too many specifics (because I’m afraid I’ll start crying), these “friends” convinced me that a guy I had a thing for liked me. They even went as far as having me sit by him at different events that we were at. And while I don’t think I was publicly humiliated, I was definitely hurt because I thought I could truly trust these girls in my life. I was personally humiliated.
I can honestly say this was a defining point in my life as I still struggle with trusting people – friends or otherwise – because I’m afraid that I’m going to be hurt by them turning away or doing something to me that will humiliate me.

4. What is your favorite theme park?

I’m not a “theme park” kind of girl… but I do really like water parks — and the one at Cedar Point in Ohio is one of my favorites.
Although if I could ever get back to Disney one day (haven’t been there since I was 10 or 12 I think), I would love to say that it would be my favorite… because really I’m a Disney kind of girl. :)

5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth?
No, and I’m not sure I want to. It sounds scary and painful. And for that reason, I’m not even sure I want to have my own children.
