Sand Art…

So I’m sitting around the other night looking at Twitter (follow me here) when I see that Ashton Kutcher (yeah, I follow him…) puts up a post about something do to with Sand Art. Because that piqued my curiousity… I went to see it.

This is what I found… take a look — very cool.

Straight No Chaser…

I know that other bloggers out there have posted this… but I’m dedicating this to my mom. :) I told her about this one day after hearing it and immediately after she heard it, she went out and bought their album (and LOVES it.)

Enjoy Everyone!

When Life's a mess…

I’m not saying that my life is a mess… but I can’t seem to get a handle on everything that’s happening right now. I don’t know if it’s the fact that it’s winter or if I’ve just been on Facebook, Twitter and the blog-o-sphere too much. (In light of re-reading the last sentance, I would say the latter definitely may have something do to with this blog post.)

I don’t know how you mom’s do it. You have hard work. Here I am a single girl… living by myself… and I can’t get a hold of it. I know some of you have a husband that helps with the things to help everything not fall apart. But here I sit with a checkbook that hasn’t been reconciled in over 3 weeks (totally NOT like me!) a mess in my living room, presents STILL not wrapped, dishes all over the counter and laundry that needs to be folded. AHHHHH!!!

This picture is right inside my front door… I drop everything there when I get home. And there it stays until the next day.

SERIOUSLY… HOW DO YOU KEEP IT ALL TOGETHER!?!?!

I know there are some simple solutions to this catastrophe I call my home. One of them would be to stay home one or two nights during the week and actually work on getting everything in order. The other might be to spend a chilly Saturday making a list and checking everything off. Not this girl. Or at least not during this holiday season.

Tonight I’m going to try to get the kitchen clean and the laundry folded. I’m not aiming high. I’m just aiming. One small step for Julie… one giant leap, well, for a clean house by Christmas. Not that anyone’s going to see it.
The other thing with not keeping all together for me is that my eating gets off track. WAY OFF. So that’s the other reason I’m tidying up before Christmas… hopefully then I can wrap my mind around being healthier for the holidays. I do plan on cooking up some fun things (and I’ll try to take pictures to post recipes later!) so that I have things ready to go for lunches or quick dinners in the next few weeks.

Tis the Season…

Each year in Holland, the downtown merchants and homeowners come together for an event called “Up on the Rooftops”. This is a fun event where other Hollanders can see what these places look like, since many times the 2nd floors are not accessible to everyday patrons.

This year our office took part in these festivities… here are a couple pictures of how we decorated for the event.

This is my office… complete with the holiday pointsetta. As of when I was last in my office it was still there all bright and cheery. Although I have a feeling it will be going away soon. At least it adds a little color to my (somewhat) dreary-mundane office.

Overall, the events we hosted this week were fun — meeting new people & seeing friends and clients that I don’t see regularly. I’m sure that this will be a tradition that will be kept up for years to come.

Although, we have more peanuts/almonds and cheesecake left over than what a girl with less-than-stellar willpower can withstand at the moment. Just taking that part one day at a time.
